We all have rough weeks right? Here at the Smith house we have had a rough month. From illnesses to injuries, we are struggling here. That topped with a few other things can make running a business tough. When I received Ms. K’s questionnaire back, it was a breath of fresh air. Sometimes, the confidence booster needs a confidence boost also. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Here is Ms. K’s shoot in her own words:
Tell me about your experience:
“I found out about Jenn from the Philly Bridal show in Janunary. Her work was beautiful and very tasteful so I entered my contact info in her book to be contacted further. After seeing dozens and dozens of vendors that day I was bombarded by emails and calls to set me up with meetings or talk more about products featured at the show.
A week or so passed and Jenn emailed me to follow up. I immediately recognized her name and remembered all the beautiful photos I saw. She asked if would be interested in setting up a shoot and I agreed.
I did the shoot for my fiancées 30th birthday gift. His birthday isn’t until July so I have some to go until the big reveal. I’m in the best shape of my life prepping for the wedding and feel really good about myself so I wanted these photos as a reminder of this point in our life. My fiancée has always tried to coax out the sexy side of me but I always felt hung up on some flaw I thought I saw in the mirror. One of the agreements we have toward our wedding was that I would wear more lingerie and he agreed to practice our first dance with me.
I loved getting ready, the girls that did my hair and makeup did a fantastic job. After I was all prepped, Jenn already had the outfit she wanted me to wear first ready to go and all I had to do was change. The first time I saw myself in full hair and makeup and lingerie I had to do a double-take, I was tasteful and beautiful. I was seeing myself in a whole new light.”
Why did you do the shoot?
“I suffer from anxiety, which throughout this wedding planning has gotten worse at times. The shoot for me was a stress reliever. It let me spoil myself for a few hours and feel perfectly comfortable having just met a stranger and being almost nude in front of them.
After the shoot, I had my bridal shower to attend the next day in Maine. I left immediately after my shoot, drove for 11 hours, and finally made it to my hometown. My fiancée was nervous about me driving through NYC on my own but unbeknownst to him I was floating on Cloud 9. I had just finished the amazing experience and felt so proud of myself. If I could strip down to barely nothing than I could totally drive all those hours by myself.”
Was the shoot what you were expecting?
“I thought I would be more nervous but Jenn made me feel at so ease. She was right there with me showing me the poses she wanted to capture. I’m not the most flexible person on earth so some of the moves were a little hard or impossible for me to do. Jenn never made me feel less glamorous or insecure about not being able to get that exact angle. Coming back to see my photos after the shoot was the best part for me. Jenn made a beautiful video to showcase the day and I still couldn’t believe that I was seeing myself up on the screen. Thank you Jenn for capturing these beautiful photos. Like I said during the second meeting I felt more anxious getting ready to view the shoot than actually taking part in it. The edited images were amazing and I looked so good!”
