From her gorgeous eyes to her amazing wardrobe choices and badass ink, her shoot was a dream. Her images came out PERFECTLY and she absolutely rocked her shoot. “I guess I’ll start at the beginning…since I can remember body image being a thought in my head, mine has been poor. I wasn’t skinny enough, my nose was too big, my boobs were too small, my thighs touched. Nothing was good enough. I got married too young because I thought he was my only option to have a family. My ex-husband would joke about pretty girls being his next wife. When I gained weight after pregnancy, I was seen as nothing more than a maid and a cook, and a person to care for our daughter. I was at rock bottom as far as self worth. I craved that feeling of validation. But no one has been able to fulfill that need. It was always fine when I started dating someone, but it wasn’t long before someone prettier, or thinner, or younger came along that was more interesting than me. My self worth depended on other people’s opinions.
Then, this opportunity came along and I did this shoot strictly for me! I have had self image issues for as long as I can remember, as I said. I craved feeling special, beautiful, more than average. Even if it was just a for a couple of hours. I had no idea that the images that came of that would serve as a reminder that I AM all of those things. I don’t think I could even pick just one favorite part of the session! I guess I would have to say how at ease Jenn made me feel. She was very professional but also felt like a longtime friend who I could laugh and joke with. That meant a lot for a self-conscious person like me. I had never done a shoot before so wasn’t sure what to expect, but I could not have imagined a more comfortable and empowering experience. I don’t think I could have expected such a great experience. It taught me that gaining self worth isn’t dependent on what another person thinks of me. It taught me to feel worthwhile because I AM. There is no greater gift.”
